What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This is the third book in the series and the idea for the story first came to me whilst I was visiting Mende and the surrounding area, in south central France. Montbel is a real village about 30 or so kilometres north east of Mende, where my character, Jacques, has his fictitious office and team. The village is very small and, remembering that I ate in a local restaurant when i visited some years ago, I was disappointed to find that it was no longer there. But, that fact set my mind working and I soon had a new investigation for Jacques.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I'm an actor as well as a writer and I use my training on stage to create the characters in my books. When I'm writing, I live through my characters, so it's very important to me that I know exactly who they are and what they are capable of – good or bad.
