What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
When I was about 20 years old, I had the main plot already well established in my head. This piranha who just so happened to be in an aquarium right next to the goldfish, fell in love with a rambunctious goldfish. One day the pet shop owner puts this piranha's best friend into its living quarters, served as its dinner. In the original story in my head the piranha dies of hunger because it does not want to eat the love of his life, but you can understand that in this kids' version of the story, the ending is much, much happier. And so, some 25 years later is born THE NOT SO BAD PIRANHA.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The piranha is the representation of a bad tempered being that is ugly, mean, and completely irritating.
On the other hand, the goldfish represents all that is beautiful, good, intelligent, and caring.
The outstanding values represented in this children's picture book are bullying, empathy, and a positive viewpoint on life.

One day, as Oscar was frightening the goldfish by showing off his big teeth, Marla the goldfish, tiny and delicate, came right up to the glass next to the piranha and said:
– You don't scare me with your big teeth.
Oscar was outraged!
– Well, you should be scared, because tomorrow I might eat you!
