What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Write from what you know, what you believe in, what you are passionate about. The hardest thing I have found about writing is how easy, at least for me it is to lose sight of what you are writing about. But if you are passionate about something, if it is true, personally, something you believe in – you will find that you will not be able to stop writing and that helps immensely.
Creating a better future for children, Author strives to motivate children and young people alike to achieve success through learning. William is a father of two children; he has spent the first fifteen years of his daughter’s life and the eight years of his son’s life teaching them that life starts now. That it is important to think about the future, today, even at such an early age.
His daughter is a 15 yr old straight ‘A’ advance class student who plays on the high school band (Alto saxophone), is learning to play the piano, plays on a soccer team and in the summer is invited to programs to earn college credits. His son, who is a 9 yr old third grader, is also in advance classes, recently scored a 99% on a school performance exam and received level 5 grades in reading and level 4 grades in math.
He beleives that they do well in school because he has taught them that doing well in school, is part of creating a successful future. It is good to dream and we all should strive to dream big dreams. But without a plan, a desire to continue to learn, to strive for more, to build a healthy confidence in one’s self and abilities – without these tools, it makes it difficult to make dreams into reality.
He wrote this book as present to his two children, a reminder to them of what can happen when you do more than just dream. This book is a childhood dream – a dream about being an author and publishing a book. He has taken his passion for helping his children to excel in school and has accomplished one of his own childhood dreams.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I didn’t start out with the intention of writing a book. I was content working hard trying to teach my children how to be financially savvy and money wise. I wanted them to have a better lafe, better opportunities and a better chance in life.
One Christmas I decided to take all of the things that I had been diligently teaching them and put it in a book – a sort of gift that would keep on giving. At best I thought they would think it was a cute gift idea and keep it, even laugh about it when they had children of their own. But a funny thing happened – they loved it and they motivated me to publish the book.
Without realizing it my children had moved me to accomplish an old childhood dream – to write a book, to be an author.
