Many authors are tempted to put off building an author platform, but the reality is that it’s going to be nearly impossible to get your book into the hands of enough readers to make a difference to you (financially or emotionally) if you don’t have an audience base that’s ready and willing to buy your books. Beyond Your Book is your essential guide to begin establishing your name as an author, communicating the value of your work, and developing trusting relationships with your readers.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Non-fiction requires a bit more research and probably a tighter handle on who your target audience book is since this is basically a self-help niche.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Have patience and don’t believe false prophets that promise ways for you to make a “ton of money” or “truckload of reviews” by following simple formulas. To get enough books into the hands of readers to make a difference to you (emotionally and financially) you are going to have to be the driving formula behind your marketing and it takes time – there is no simple one-size-fits-all-formula.
Marquita Herald writes about personal growth, the power of resilience and insights on the writer’s life. Her professional experience includes a successful 20 year career in international sales and marketing, followed by a decade of as an award winning small business coach and trainer. Marquita makes her home in rural Maui and when she’s not working on a new book, sharing inspiring stories with audiences; working on one of her blogs or locked in a battle of wills with her dog Lucy, she is painting or curled up with a good book and glass of her favorite wine.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
As a former small business coach I found it difficult to see new authors struggling and asking the same questions over and over in forums and online groups. I wrote this book based on those questions and hope that it will help new authors get through that difficult book or two.
