Brooke, a Water Elemental stationed in New Orleans, broke the rules once–she mated with a human. For her indiscretion, she is forbidden to share a life with her loved ones: NOPD officer Alex and their half-breed daughter, Ella.
Now Ella is about to turn sixteen, and the local clan of fallen angels are determined to snare her soul by Halloween. Brooke broke the rules once by allowing love to interfere with her mission. Now she and Alex must put consequences aside to break the rules again—if they wish to save their daughter’s soul.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Currently, I’m writing in the paranormal/fantasy genre. Meaning I can make up worlds, places, rules, anything. That gives me as the writer a lot of freedom. I’ve also written some women’s fiction and contemporary romance. Those genres require more realistic settings and rules, so it’s just a different mindset.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Hmm…there are a few things I would say:
1. Always back up your data.
2. Always keep going. The next book is more important than selling your first one on Twitter non-stop.
3. On days when you get discouraged, take a break. But always return to your writing. You have a story to tell. Tell it.
Elaine Calloway writes paranormal fantasy romance books for Kindle and paperback. Whether she writes about an Elemental Series and Elemental Worlds, or tells stories about ghosts in the deep South, all books are set in iconic cities such as New Orleans.
She is currently working on the Elemental Clan Series, about nature’s four elements–water, fire, earth, and wind–and their battle to save innocent souls from the evil Fallen Angel packs. The elemental series includes:
Water’s Blood – Book One set in New Orleans
Raging Fire – Book Two set in New York City
Earthbound – Book Three set in Portland, Oregon
Windstorm – Book Four set in Napa Valley – release date summer 2014.
Originally from New Orleans (she can still do a decent Cajun accent upon request), Elaine Calloway grew up with a love of all things supernatural and gets back to the Crescent City as often as she can.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I’ve always enjoyed good versus evil tales, and I liked the fact that these Elementals are tasked with protecting innocent humans but are unable to show their supernatural powers. Brooke, the Water Elemental, must abide by the rules of her kind while living amongst humanity and keeping her secret. It added an extra layer of tension.
In addition, I’ve wanted to write a story that included fallen angels for some time now. Combining Elementals as the protagonists and Fallen Angels as the villains seemed intriguing to me, so the book was born.
