How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I haven’t placed much investment into writing outside of my genre, but I hope to write a Fantasy series in the future. I write objectively for work, so it is a wonderful release of tension to sit down and embrace an influx of creative ideas.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Write as if your life depends on it.
J. D. Tew is an author from Minnesota that has an insatiable passion for art and Science Fantasy. He has a degree in Applied Science, and also served as an infantryman in the United States Army, earning numerous commendations.
J. D. spends the majority of his days wrangling three kids, writing poetry, working as a Dental Assistant, and creating new worlds through fiction. He loves to have epic lightsaber battles with his kids.
His first book The Acolytes of Crane was written from the mind of a veteran with extensive experience in battle and knowledge in areas of Science. J. D. places the majority of his efforts into creating characters and worlds that are unique and engrossing, while fabricating plots that evoke emotion from mystery and twists.
I asked J. D. if he thinks he will get lucky in this saturated market, and he said, “My luck is a product of an obsession. I just hope that one day my obsession is opened and read long enough to evoke imagination.”
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
THEODORE CRANE lives in a house full of hard lessons–a home where the hand of abuse pulverizes any inkling of courage. It’s not until Theodore is forced to survive, that he finds his own personal courage within. He learns that the willingness to protect his own existence may shift the balance of the Multiverse forever. Regardless of one’s present state, each person has the ability within to evolve beyond the dilemma they have been dealt when survival is the only option.
I wrote The Acolytes of Crane to raise awareness of child abuse and encourage children to battle through difficult challenges. Theodore’s life was not much different than my own, as a kid.
