They promised Brice adventure and excitement, then gave him routine and reports. They trained and enhanced him, then stuck him on jobs anyone could do. They made him a man, yet they treat him like a child.
The tech guy hates him, the commander thinks he’s worthless, the tracker only puts up with him because it’s her job, and the pilot barely knows he exists. And now he’s stuck with them, on a malfunctioning craft. They’re miles from home, in the fiercest storm of the season, and night is falling. Already, the forest is deep in shadow.
And the shadows are not empty. Creatures wait, growing hungry.
Soon, it will be time to feed.

About the Author
TW Iain is often someone else, in the north of England, with a day job, a family, and all that normal stuff. But at stupid o’clock in the morning, TW Iain emerges to tap away on a laptop. Sometimes he comes out to play in the evenings as well. And when he’s not physically writing, he’s lurking in the shadows, looking for ways to feed this obsession.
The whole thing started at an early age — disapproving looks from teachers for reading James Herbert in lessons, rushing home to finish Lord Of The Rings, reading Stephen King in the back of the car on a family holiday. Later, there was Asimov, Iain Banks, Chuck Palahniuk, and so, so many more.
It’s hardly surprising that he started writing. He wrote his first novel one winter, between working shifts at a flour mill. Like all first novels, it doesn’t deserve to see the light of day.
The writing bug lay dormant for a while, but TW Iain re-emerged with greater determination at the beginning of 2015, and the early mornings started in earnest.
Since then, TW has published three novels in the Dominions series of dark Dystopian thrillers, along with the first title in the Shadows series of sci-fi/horror. He also posts a free short story on his website every fortnight.
