How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I utilized the concept of reincarnation for my heroine so that I could introduce young adults to history in a fun and enjoyable manner and hopefully inspire them to find out more about our past. Let me stress that this is not a history book. It is fantasy, so I have put my own unique twist on history in some cases. Of course, many find the actual history in the story surprising. My characters not only live in present day, but through dreams and memories readers can see them change and grow throughout the centuries.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Write, write, write. It doesn’t matter if it’s perfect the first time around; just get your ideas out there. Then you can take your time and polish it.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I always enjoyed teaching unusual and true bits of history to my students. When I moved to the country and only saw students sporadically, I found writing with the goal of making students curious about history made me feel close to them once again.
