Not every night is filled with the kind of danger that can get you killed, but the night that Rag comes across a mysterious young woman who is being chased by a group of equally young vampires, certainly has potential. He finds himself sucked into a situation that could change his life forever and is compelled to help her, although he has no idea why.
Rag needs to find out the truth about what’s happening, and quickly, because he has an uneasy feeling that time is running out.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
That’s a difficult question to answer. I would have to write in other genres to know that!
Okay, that’s a bit of a cop-out. I write a lot of flash fiction as well (very short stories) and, obviously, that’s very different from writing a full-length novel. It really makes you focus on the words you use and paring things down to the minimum, whereas with a novel, you can afford a spend a lot more time on description and characterisation.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Try to write every day and read a lot. Reading is just as important as writing if you want to improve your work.
Juliet Boyd lives in Somerset in the south west of England. After working in office administration for more years than she cares to remember, she is now concentrating on a career in writing. Her main interests are flash fiction, weird fiction, fantasy, science fiction and horror.
She has work published in print, eBook, online, on mobile phone app and on audio CD. Links to all her work can be found on her website at www.julietboyd.com.
Her most recent competition success was placing third in a flash fiction competition run in conjunction with The British Fantasy Society for the 2013 National Flash Fiction Day in the UK.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I wanted to write a vampire series that was based in the UK (it’s based in Somerset, where I live), and one that was based around a family situation (although the ‘family’ is somewhat dysfunctional).
