How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Mystery readers are very sharp and notice when the conclusions do not follow from the clues. Although it is fiction, mystery writing has to “ring true” to a certain extent. That makes it a little different from sci-fi and fantasy at least.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Just start writing and put aside your qualms. However, once you have a finished book, be sure to have it edited. If your first book is not as successful as you’d like, don’t stop writing.
J B Clemmens is a retired math teacher who has always loved reading. After reading all the available Agatha Christie books in her youth, she now enjoys Stout, Patterson, Child, Marsh, Grimes, Greeley, and Peters. She recently visited with family in Japan and enjoys music, swimming, and cooking.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
A wedding at a beautiful resort in Phoenix, along with a relaxing massage at the spa, was the initial inspiration. I also had a chance to stay at Wild Horse Pass Resort on the Pima Indian Reservation and found it was very modern, with a casino, golf course and fascinating Native American culture which was not at all like what I thought an Indian reservation would be like.
