Within the city walls there are no secrets. No actions go unseen, no voices go unheard. But if you leave the walls, the cameras, the watchers—then you have entered the unknown, where wild things dwell. You can go there. You might even return.
But you will never be the same.
Seventeen-year-old Red has heard the stories. But what can she do? Her friends are dying. The city is no safer than the woods. If she can slip past the eyes, beyond the walls and into the wild, will she find help, or merely join the list of those the wilderness has destroyed?
THE WATCH is the first book in THE RED SERIES, four psychological thrillers telling one story. Set in the near future, the series follows seventeen-year-old Red as she seeks to protect her friends, understand her city, and make a place for herself in a world paradoxically obsessed with watching and seemingly indifferent to what it sees. By turns heart-pounding, haunting, whimsical, and hopeful, the series offers an unusual take on the contemporary dystopia genre.
All four books are available on Kindle (released June 2015). Paperback release date September 10, 2015.
Audience: Adult and Young Adult. (Teenage protagonists, significant adult secondary characters, mature narrative voice, advanced syntax.) Pre-release copies indicate strong cross-over appeal.
Parental rating: Suitable for ages 14 and older. No graphic sexual scenes. No language advisories. Situational violence.

About the Author
Amanda Witt started out writing non-fiction. Her first foray into storytelling was the short story “Night Rose,” chosen by international best-selling author Jeffery Deaver for inclusion in the Mystery Writers of America anthology A Hot and Sultry Night for Crime.
Since then she has written a four-novel collection of dystopian psychological thrillers (The Red Series), taught at various universities across the U.S., homeschooled her children (now mostly grown), and managed an online graphic design Zazzle shop. She has a Ph.D. in English and has been married to her college sweetheart for just about forever.
