About the Author
Armed with a newly-minted master’s degree in creative writing, former journalist Tim W. Jackson knew he was qualified to be a bartender, a waiter, or to apply to a PhD program. Instead he chose Secret Option D: run off to the Caribbean to work as a scuba instructor by day and write fiction at night. More than a decade later, he still wishes that was half as interesting as it sounds. Or even a quarter . . .
Jackson is the award-winning author of the literary novel Mangrove Underground and The Blacktip Times humor blog. His “Tales From Blacktip Island” short stories have been published in literary journals worldwide. He is currently concocting his second Blacktip Island novel, The Secret of Rosalita Flats.

About the Author
By day, Jacques Antoine is a professor at a small college in the southwest, by night he writes action-adventure stories. At first, he wrote “kung fu” tales just for his daughter, when she was a little ninja studying karate. As she grew up, the tales evolved into full-length novels focusing on the dilemmas of young adults, but always set against the background of martial arts adventures. When he’s not writing or teaching, he enjoys walking his dogs in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains outside Santa Fe.

Bargain Book: The Power Flux by Ben Scott Craig
A thought-provoking mix of dystopian, political, and metaphysical themes in a fast-paced adventure about the collapse of the fossil fuel era.
“A powerful cocktail of emotion and action…highly recommended for fans of dystopian fiction looking for something more vivid, political, and unpredictable than most genre reads can offer.”-D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
Many people believe that the end of the world is coming.
The planet has endured three Great Oil Panics. Sea waters continue to rise. Nations are collapsing under the pressure of rising food and energy prices. Wars have broken out over depleted fresh water reserves. The United States stands on the brink of fracturing into smaller territories.
The plutocrats in the Capitol may tell you that there’s enough fossil fuel to last at least another hundred years, but few are buying these claims anymore.
Many citizens are amassing food, guns, and gold, and clamping down in fortified rural complexes waiting for…I’m still not quite sure what they’re waiting for. Perhaps the end. Maybe a new beginning.
Others believe that human innovation can lift us out of this energy crisis. Consider me part of this camp.
My name is Alex Shepherd, and I am part of a rising faction born in the Midwest Territory. Bolstered by a political movement, we’re ready to unveil a dramatic new sun-capture technology that could change the world of scarcity into a land of abundance. This new energy source could send old power structures crumbling. And new ones could quickly rise in their place.
Many of the elites in the Eastern Cities will do anything to keep this power flux from happening, but we cannot be stopped.
Targeted Age Group: Action/Adventure, Dystopian, Political, Metaphysical Genres.

Bargain Book: Right of Passage by Charles Vella
Drones on the White House lawn. Government agents with an ear to your telephone. Where will it end?
Maybe in a Police State of Anarchy.
2065, two hundred years after the end of the civil war. Is it happening all over again? Don’t ask Adams. He doesn’t know. Doesn’t care. He’s marking time leading milk runs upstate for food. And forgetting. So he picked up that girl at Liberty Casino. He was just being a nice guy. Wasn’t looking to get involved with the police. And sure wasn’t looking to become the rope in a tug of war between the police and Homeland Security.
So who are these people and what do they want from Adams? Lead a cross-country caravan? The insurance companies killed those years ago. These days the only way across country is to fly, if you’re willing to risk the electric planes and being caught in a gun fight when some drunk isn’t satisfied with the service. So where did that Right of Passage on his screen come from? And why’re that cop Grillo and his trained monster of a sidekick stepping on Adams’s heels everywhere he goes? And if Grillo wants Adams to lead that caravan, who is it that wants to stop him? Whoever it is, he can change screen records and make people disappear from surveillance cameras. Not much doubt who that is, but in this game no one wears uniforms and the sidelines may be more dangerous than the field.
The only thing scarier than facing a lunatic is seeing him in the mirror. The only thing worse than a dystopian future is one that springs from the seeds of lunacy we’re planting today. The more things change the more they stay the same. And you call this progress?
Police State of Anarchy is a sketch of the kind of future we may be asking for. Are we ready for it?
